River and Ride 2010: Part 2, continued...
DAY 2
After breakfast we will head out to Hey Joe Mine located in Hey Joe Canyon. On todays trip you will put the skills you learned yesterday to the test. We will have awesome views dropping into Spring Canyon and climbing into Hey Joe Canyon. For those that have been on the Upper Green River Trip with Exploring Earth, we will be traveling along part the Green River. The trip will be very rocky and brushy. The trail will be narrow in some spots and will have some sheer cliffs. There will be old mining equipment around Hey Joe Canyon. The trip will be approximately 35 miles round trip. We follow the same route back to base camp. The evening will again consist of cleaning up gear, consuming dinner, filling up our atv's with the fluids they need, and star gazing.
DAY 3
After breakfast we will head out to Determination Towers. Today we will see a broad, scenic area with many dramatic rock formations like Monitor Butte and Merrimac Butte. We will have a small side trip to Tusher Tunnel. We break camp and head back to Moab to return the rentals. Then we head to the hotel and clean up for Dinner and get set for Part 3, hoof-in it, so to speak.
